New Directors & Advisory Committee

We have recently expanded our Board of Directors, to add two Non-Executive Directors who come with a wealth of lived experience and local awareness, and have expert knowledge of directorship and fundraising. We have also implemented an Advisory Group, made up of people from our community, clients, volunteers, visitors, and people who offer support to other local organisations. This group will be a sounding board for future ideas, new services, for updates on what we have achieved and completed, and to offer feedback. We hope to be “Taking the Pulse of Ross” and will be more accountable to the local community as a result.

Our new directors are:

Rachel Hankins

Rachel had a long career in the not-for-profit sector from 1988 – managing several charities including Citizens Advice, and turning a failing social enterprise into a thriving and profitable one.  From 2001-07, she was in charge of grants for the voluntary sector in Gloucester City and Gloucestershire County Council. Since 2007, she has been a freelance management consultant working with charities, CICs and grant-making trusts.  Her approach is to build skills in organisations so they can do their best work with their clients at the frontline through being well-organised and benefiting from excellent leadership and governance. She has mentored many charity CEOs in leadership skills.

Rachel is passionate about the work of @The Hub to combat poverty, fight injustice and support vulnerable people at the margins of society. She believes that “the opposite of poverty is not wealth, it’s justice” (as stated by the US human rights lawyer Bryan Stevenson).

Simon Lennane

Dr Simon Lennane has been a GP in Ross-on-Wye for more than twenty years. Simon has a particular interest in health inequalities and social prescribing, and has written a book on community development for health.
