Future Plans

Thanks to an extension of our permitted opening hours we are now able to offer our premises when we are not open for business to private groups who need a place to meet. Recent and regular meetings have been held by Herefordshire Mind, Hereford Youth Employment Hub and the Men’s Walk and Talk Mental Health group. We are in discussions with other groups in Ross who have expressed an interest in meeting @The Hub.

The redevelopment of the back room has been an ongoing project for some time, with clients helping to clear it out, to shovel the rubble into sacks and to transport it to the tip. We are very lucky to have partnered up with The City of Hereford Boxing Academy as a satellite club, and the refurbishment continues. We will be fundraising soon for building supplies, equipment, and everything else needed to equip the room as a boxing training centre.

We will be using the facilities in Hereford as well, and the City of Hereford coaches have already been down to see the space and meet with clients of ours who they are currently supporting.

Again, thanks to the extension of our hours, we can enable small groups of clients, young and old, male and female, beginners and the more experienced, to come and train in Ross. These sessions will take place outside of normal opening hours, and into the early evening, to enable those who are at school or work to use our facilities as well.

We are planning a Youth Voice group in Ross – there is currently no platform for the young people in Ross to have their voices heard, to make suggestions on the facilities and events planned for the town, and to feedback on the plans already made. These sessions are facilitated with help from ‘Herefordshire YEH’ Youth Employment Hub, a new partnership which will lead to more help, support, advice and workshops for 16 – 24 year olds.

The group will meet regularly, with support from the staff @The Hub, and the suggestions and feedback from the group will be fed into the Council and other groups that would like to engage with the future of our town.

Alongside the Youth Voice group, we are planning a series of workshops for young people, based around social cohesion, communication and problem solving. There will be elements of community integration and networking, and these sessions will be led by professionals from the Youth Employment Hub in Hereford.
